Job description

Shift Mechanical Fitter

Sandvik is a global, high-tech, engineering group providing solutions that enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability for the manufacturing, mining, and infrastructure industries.

In our Additive Manufacturing business, we offer the widest alloy range of metal powders on the market, under the world-renowned Osprey brand, as well as a Controlled Expansion (CE) Alloys product range.

We are currently seeking a Shift Mechanical Fitter to join our Engineering team.

About You

You should have demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering and hold a trade apprenticeship with a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering. The main focus of this role will be to perform mechanical work on site equipment. Training will be provided. Experience with COMPEX and a good level of IT literacy would be advantageous.

This role is based at our manufacturing site in Neath and operates on a 3-shift pattern, 5 days per week, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all required mechanical work.
  2. Comply with all Standard Working Practices (SWPs) and permits to work where applicable.
  3. Monitor Engineering Requests (ERs) and execute appropriate tasks.
  4. Conduct plant checks as defined.
  5. Participate in planned shutdowns when necessary.
  6. Be available to attend the work site outside normal hours to address safety, security, or equipment breakdown issues.
  7. Participate in the Engineering call-out system.
  8. Follow company and engineering quality procedures.
