Job summary

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. in Newport is seeking a Facilities Shift Supervisor to lead a team of 12 technicians across two shifts. You will organise daily work, oversee handovers, and ensure safe, compliant operations on site.

You will actively mentor apprentices and coordinate with EHS, Manufacturing and R&M to meet site targets while handling life-safety systems testing and incident escalations. Experience in facilities or maintenance leadership is essential.

Qualifications

Recognised craft/technical qualification with strong plant knowledge.
Proven experience leading a shift-based maintenance or facilities team.
Solid understanding of safe systems of work and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan and prioritise resources across multiple workloads.

Responsibilities

Supervise 12 Facilities Shift Technicians across two shifts and maintain morale.
Own the shift handover process with clear actions, alarms and safety observations.
Plan, allocate and prioritise daily work across maintenance and projects.
Ensure complete maintenance records and regulatory documentation.
Act as escalation point for alarms, plant faults and breakdowns.
Develop apprentices through structured mentoring in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and BMS disciplines.
Support safe systems of work, permit to work, LOTO and other high‑hazard controls.
Monitor KPIs including PPM compliance and response times; drive improvements.
Collaborate with Facilities Manager, EHS, Manufacturing and R&M to meet site needs.
Lead testing of life safety systems such as sprinklers and fire alarms.
Assist recruitment, onboarding and induction of new shift technicians.
