Job summary

Huawei Technologies Research & Development (UK) Ltd in Ipswich is seeking a technically skilled team member to support Epitaxy product development in a 12-month contract role. You will work with technicians and engineers in cleanrooms and laboratories, operating MOCVD reactors and assisting with materials characterization.

The position requires flexible cross-boundary working and hands-on experience with material assessment tools, data recording, and MES-driven process data entry.

Qualifications

  • Experience in running material/product assessment/evaluation tools and accurately recording data.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Proven ability to take accurate notes relating to the processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use web-based or bespoke software tools on PC.
  • Willing to shave clean for maintenance days.

Responsibilities

  • Characterization of semiconductor material using appropriate tools (on the job training provided).
  • Use the MES to input data as instructed by engineer and/or documentation in order to maintain the process flow.
  • Basic operation of one or more MOCVD reactors – (un)loading InP substrates and transferring product to characterization area.
  • Support maintenance tasks on the MOCVD reactors, this will require use of breathing apparatus.
  • Use of chemicals for some characterization procedures and cleaning of small reactor parts.
  • Provide effective handover to other technicians and engineers.
  • Actively undertake 5S.
  • Work in accordance with the Huawei quality and safety policies.
  • Taking ownership of consumable parts management.
  • Working with engineers to develop and document new processes effectively.

Job Summary

This role is part of the Epitaxy team which requires flexible cross boundary working. This team has the role of supporting the III-V product development and production teams in meeting customer requirements, working with a team of technicians and engineers in cleanrooms and laboratories. Shift worker will support running of low pressure MOCVD reactors and the characterization of the material created.

This is a 12-month contract role, with the potential for extension subject to project requirements.

Preferred
  • HNC in a relevant subject.
  • Confident working safely with chemicals.
  • Experience in MOVPE epitaxy growth systems or similar systems.
  • Experience in working within a semiconductor fab.
