Job summary

Hexcel is seeking a Shift Engineer at its Duxford, UK site to support maintenance activities across the plant, improve performance and reliability, and lead fault-finding and repairs. You will develop and execute preventative maintenance, support safety initiatives, and work with suppliers and contractors for equipment improvements.

The role requires formal electrical/mechanical maintenance qualifications, a recognised apprenticeship, and at least five years' experience in a manufacturing

Qualifications

• Five years' experience as an electrically biased maintenance engineer in manufacturing or process environments.
• Knowledge of PLCs and variable speed drives is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance activities across the site to improve plant performance and reliability.
• Carry out fault finding, repairs and implement root cause corrective actions.
• Develop, execute and maintain planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Support projects and process improvements to enhance safety and production efficiency.
• Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC and drive-related issues.
• Liaise with suppliers, OEMs and contractors to support equipment improvements and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide daily reports to management and stakeholders.
• Train production personnel in basic maintenance activities and machine setup procedures.
