Job summary

Hilton Food Group in Grimsby is seeking a professional Shift Engineer to join our engineering team. You will provide a safe, efficient engineering service to support production and drive proactive maintenance to sustain machinery performance.

The role requires time served apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, a flexible, hands-on approach, and strong teamwork. We offer development opportunities, a share save scheme, and secure on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Time served craft apprenticeship or equivalent training to NVQ level 3.
• Multiskilled or work towards qualification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety of themselves and others is a priority during all activities.
• Report hazards that may lead to injury or food safety implications.
• Comply with food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and handovers to Production with clear communication.
• Diagnose faults and take corrective action to maximise equipment uptime.
• Collaborate in a multi-skilled team and participate in training and development.
• Identify and share continuous improvement ideas for health, safety and uptime.

Whatwe are looking for:

We are looking for a professional and experienced Shift Engineer to joinour growing Engineering team. As a Shift Engineer you will be a highlycompetent team member providing a safe and efficient engineering service tosupport production, and to ensure that a proactive approach is adopted tomaintaining good machinery and operating efficiencies within a timely manner.The new hire will work collaboratively with other functions, taking hands onapproach, and providing support, where required, outside core functionalresponsibilities.

Key responsibilities asa Shift Engineer will be to:

• During all activities ensures that the Health and Safety of themselves and others remains priority.
• Correct or if unable to correct report any hazards which may lead to injury or food safety implications.
• Ensures all activities are following food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping are always maintained.
• Ensure fast and effective response to breakdowns and handovers to Production are appropriately communicated.
• Diagnosing faults and taking corrective action to ensure continuous service and identifying further improvements to increase equipment availability.
• Participate in a multi-skilled team within own capabilities and undertake in any training and development exercises to progress.
• Identify and share continuous improvement ideas that may contribute to Health & Safety and equipment uptime or maintenance cost improvements.
• Ensuring planned maintenance work is completed on time and further work required is communicated to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
• Flexibility to work across sites.
• Having a flexible approach to hours of work and working within the team to provide engineering cover to meet the needs of the business.
• Ensure that good food manufacturing practices are always maintained.

Requiredexperience/expertise to succeed as a Shift Engineer will include:
