Hilton Food Group is seeking a practical Multiskilled Engineer to support day-to-day maintenance for production operations in Grimsby. You will work across maintenance tasks, respond to breakdowns, and implement improvements in a safety-focused environment.

Joining a team with a strong culture and clear progression, you will be involved in planned and reactive maintenance with a 3-week rotating shift pattern, including weekend coverage as required. On-site parking is available.

Formación

• Experience in a FMCG environment
• Specific equipment knowledge
• IOSH Trained preferable
• Time Served apprenticeship
• BTEC Level 3 or above in Engineering or equivalent

Responsabilidades

• Ensure health and safety remains the top priority during all tasks.
• Correct hazards or report them to prevent injury or food safety issues.
• Comply with food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
• Respond rapidly to breakdowns and handovers to production teams.
• Diagnose faults and take corrective action to maximise equipment availability.
• Work in a multi-skilled team and participate in training and development.
• Share continuous improvement ideas to boost safety and uptime.
• Ensure planned maintenance is completed on time and flag extra work.
• Provide engineering cover with flexible hours to meet business needs.
• Maintain high standards of good manufacturing practices at all times.

Role Details

Role title: Multiskilled Engineer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Grimsby, Estate Road 2

Shift

3 Week Rotating Shift

Shift 1 - Friday 6am-12pm or 12pm-6pm rotating, 6am-6pm Sat & Sunday, 2-10 Monday - Friday

Shift 2 - 5am-3pm - Monday - Friday

Shift 3 - Saturday - Thursday - Rest Week 6 days off - return on shift 1 Friday

About The Role

The purpose of this role is to support the day-to-day operations of the engineering function, carrying out planned tasks, responding to breakdowns, and prioritising maintenance activities effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and reliable engineering service in support of production operations. A proactive approach to equipment maintenance, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency will be essential.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, you will take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and provide support where required beyond your core responsibilities, contributing to the overall success of the site.

Responsibilities

• During all activities ensure that the Health and Safety of themselves and others remains first priority.
• Correcting or if unable to correct report any hazards which may lead to injury or food safety implications.
• Ensuring all activities are in compliance with food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
• Ensuring fast and effective response to breakdowns and handovers to Production are appropriately communicated.
• Diagnosing faults and taking corrective action to ensure continuous service and identifying further improvements to increase equipment availability.
• Participating in a multi-skilled team within own capabilities and undertake in any training and development exercises to progress.
• Identifying and share continuous improvement ideas that may contribute to Health & Safety and equipment uptime or maintenance cost improvements.
• Ensuring planned maintenance work is completed on time and further work required is communicated to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
• Having a flexible approach to hours of work and working within the team to provide engineering cover to meet the needs of the business.
• Ensuring that good food manufacturing practices are maintained at all times.

Requirements

• Previously worked in similar FMCG environment
• Specific equipment knowledge and experience preferable
• IOSH Trained preferable
• Time Served recognised apprenticeship
• Previous experience in a similar engineering position
• BTEC Level 3 or above in Engineering Discipline or equivalent
