Job summary

The Marylebone in London is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will be hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working alongside guests, management, contractors and suppliers to maintain the hotel’s facilities and guest experience.

You will lead planned and reactive maintenance, carry out decorating and repairs, ensure safety compliance, stock checks, and keep workshops clean and well organised while delivering excellent service to guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel maintenance environment.
• Comfortable working with guests and management.
• Health and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Paint and decorate hotel areas to a high standard.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests and resolve issues.
• Carry out minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, equipment and appliances.
• Safely handle tools, equipment, chemicals and materials per procedures.
• Maintain safety signage and PPE at all times.
• Conduct stock checks and maintain maintenance supplies.
• Keep workshops and storage areas clean, organised and safe.
• Identify and report maintenance issues and safety hazards to management.
• Follow all health, safety, and operational policies.
• Deliver excellent guest service and respond to guest requests professionally.
• Support the maintenance team and assist with cover as required.
• Maintain flexibility in working hours as needed.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join the Engineering team at The Marylebone, a leading 5-star luxury hotel in Marylebone Village. As a Shift Engineer, you will be energetic and proactive, comfortable working alongside our guests, management team, contractors, suppliers and all team members. Responsible for trouble shooting, performing minor repairs and ordering replacements as needed, cleaning and moving equipment, you will be conscious to ensure the Health and Safety of colleagues and guests alike. The ideal candidate will have experience in a hotel environment in a maintenance role.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Carry out painting and decorating work throughout the hotel, ensuring a consistently high standard of finish.
• Maintain the overall appearance and presentation of the hotel to support an exceptional guest experience.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and routine repairs in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Undertake minor repairs to hotel fixtures, fittings, equipment, and appliances.
• Safely handle, use, and store tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure appropriate safety signage and personal protective equipment are used at all times.
• Conduct regular stock checks and maintain adequate levels of maintenance and decorating supplies.
• Keep maintenance workshops, storage areas, and workspaces clean, organised, and safe.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and repair requirements to management.
• Follow all company health, safety, security, and operational policies and procedures.
• Deliver excellent guest service, responding professionally and positively to guest requests and requirements.
• Support the wider maintenance team and assist with departmental cover as required.
• Maintain a flexible approach to working hours in line with the needs of the business.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
