Job summary

Amcor is seeking a skilled production maintenance technician to join our operations team in the UK. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and respond rapidly to line issues to minimise downtime.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship or engineering qualification, with experience in a production maintenance environment. You will engage with the shift team, uphold safety standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • HNC or Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in production maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Fix machine faults during shift activity.
  • Respond quickly to line breakdowns and coordinate with Extrusion Shift Manager.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Perform fault finding and diagnostics in breakdowns.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance on production machinery.
  • Maintain breakdown records and ensure timely repairs.
  • Follow HSE and company procedures.
  • Provide proactive support to maximise production output.
  • Document maintenance activities and write shift reports.

  • Fixing machine faults occurring as part of the normal shift activity.
  • Fast response to line breakdowns affecting production and liaising extensively with the Extrusion Shift Manager.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections.
  • Fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations.
  • Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery to include extruders and site services.
  • Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained.
  • Follow and encourage stringent HSE and standard company practices.
  • Fully engage with the operations team to provide proactive support to the plant and equipment, maximising production output.
  • Practice continuous improvement and pro-activeness for improved ways of working offering possible solutions
  • Perform maintenance tasks as part of planned maintenance or as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Respond promptly to any unplanned maintenance issues or repairs to ensure minimum down time
  • Demonstrate tenacity in approach to incident management and actively pursue investigations to identify root causes
  • Understand importance of preventative maintenance schedules and prioritise activities to efficiently use resources
  • Use initiative and confidently make sound decisions quickly based on knowledge, experience and best practice
  • Effectively involve specialists to resolve complex issues
  • Understand the importance of accurate and clear written records, maintaining documentation to a high standard
  • Providing a written report on a shift basis.

Person Specification

  • Flexible, highly motivated and driven with the ability to prioritise own workload, possess strong intellect, good logical fault finding analysis capabilities and who can demonstrate the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward. Results orientated, with ability to deliver results in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Will have a time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and have a recognised qualification in a related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be a confident team player.
  • Experience of working in a production maintenance environment is essential for this role.
  • Proactive and dynamic approach to health, safety and environmental situations.
  • Be ambitious, driven and tenacious with a hunger to succeed and deliver results.
  • Proactive and a positive “can do” attitude
  • HNC or Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Excellent IT skills are essential
