Job summary

Hunter Selection Limited is recruiting an experienced Shift Engineer to join a busy engineering team in Bedford. This role supports maintenance, inspections and repairs to ensure safety, reliability and regulatory compliance across a high-volume site.

You will work a 5 days out of 7 shift pattern, carrying out servicing, fault finding and repairs, and contributing to ongoing training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Shift Engineer or similar engineering role.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent qualification in HGV or PSV.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
• Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.
• Commitment to health & safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair activities
• Conduct inspections, diagnostics and fault-finding across a range of assets
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation
• Complete all work in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
• Respond to breakdowns and support operational requirements when necessary
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance documentation
• Contribute to high levels of equipment availability and operational performance

Job description

We're recruiting for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a busy engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation where safety, reliability and engineering excellence are at the heart of everything they do. You'll play a key role in carrying out maintenance, inspections and repairs, helping to ensure operational performance and compliance across a high-volume engineering environment.

Working a 5 days out of 7 shift pattern, you'll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, inspections and repair work, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance are consistently achieved.
