Job summary

Shifts are 4 on / 4 off. Applicants should have experience with PLCs, DCS/SCADA, and electrical safety in heavy industry, with a commitment to reliability and uptime.

Electrical Craftsperson (Shifts: 4 on / 4 off)

We are currently looking for an Electrical Craftsperson at our Dunbar Cement Plant, which is located close to Edinburgh. The site is easily accessible from Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, North Berwick, Bonnyrigg, Haddington and surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

• Within the role of shift Electrical Craftsperson you will act as a key member of the 24/7 Maintenance team, focusing on electrical and process control equipment across the plant within a large-scale continuous process cement manufacturing environment.
• The role will support critical production equipment across quarry, kiln, milling, packing and utilities areas, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the plant during day and night shift operations.
• You will play a key role in responding to plant breakdowns, fault finding, restoring equipment to service safely and supporting operational reliability across the site.
• Prioritising safety at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards, electrical isolations, permit systems and safe working practices within a heavy industrial environment.
• Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on plant equipment in a safe and timely manner.
• Applying existing knowledge or quickly developing expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, motor control centres, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, industrial communications systems and specialised control panels.
• Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems within a live production environment.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shift periods.
• Assisting operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
• Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
• Working across a large industrial site including outdoor plant areas, substations, elevated structures and dusty process environments.
