Healthcare Assistant – Sussex, BN8 – Day & Night Shifts Available

We are seeking compassionate and confident carers to provide support for a lovely gentleman in Sussex, BN8. This is an excellent opportunity to join a consistent and friendly team supporting someone who enjoys companionship, culture, and a good conversation.

About the Role:

• Supporting a male client in his own home with personal care, mobility, and day-to-day tasks. He has a high-level Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
• He enjoys music, conversation, and traditional Brazilian meals. Portuguese is his native language, and while he speaks English, he is most comfortable communicating in Portuguese.
• He lives independently with a rota that includes two carers during the day and carer support overnight. Night care is important as he is a light sleeper and requires repositioning support throughout the night.
• Due to the intimate nature of the personal care required, and to ensure the client’s privacy and dignity, this role is open to female carers only. This is a genuine occupational requirement permitted under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
• As his carer, you will be supporting with personal care, medication prompts, hoisted transfers, daily stretches, meal preparation, communication support, and companionship.

Job Details:

• Job Type: Day shifts (8am – 8pm), Waking night shifts (8pm – 8am)
• Pay Rate: £15.00/hour on weekdays, £18.00/hour on weekends and nights
• Location: Sussex, BN8 (near Lewes / Brighton) – easy parking
• Driver: Helpful due to rural location
• Start Date: To be confirmed

What We’re Looking For:

• A calm, friendly, and professional female support worker confident in team settings. Experience with hoisting or SCI care is helpful but not essential.
• Interest in Brazilian culture or Portuguese language is a bonus.

Training & Support:

We provide full training in SCI and neurological care to support you in caring for this gentleman, ensuring you have the necessary skills to deliver excellent care.
