Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced SHEQ Officer to support demolition enabling works and specialist contracting projects across multiple sites. This on-site role involves working with Project Managers, Site Managers and operatives to promote a positive safety culture and ensure legal compliance.

You will carry out inspections, audits and RAMS reviews, investigate incidents and deliver inductions and toolbox talks, while supporting ISO management systems across projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in SHEQ/HSEQ roles within construction, demolition or enabling works.
• Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
• Ability to carry out audits, inspections, incident investigations and RAMS reviews.

Responsibilities

• Carry out SHEQ site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring.
• Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to site teams.
• Review RAMS, COSHH assessments and Construction Phase Plans.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and workforce briefings.
• Review subcontractor RAMS and monitor contractor performance.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Produce inspection reports and promote continuous improvement across projects.

SHEQ Officer

We're looking for an experienced SHEQ Officer to with demolition experience to support, demolition enabling works and specialist contracting projects across multiple sites.

This is a hands‑on, site‑based role where you'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and operatives to promote a positive safety culture, ensure legal compliance and drive high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out SHEQ site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring.
• Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to site teams.
• Review RAMS, COSHH assessments and Construction Phase Plans.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and workforce briefings.
• Review subcontractor RAMS and monitor contractor performance.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

You’ll Have

• Experience in a SHEQ, HSEQ or Health & Safety role within construction, civil engineering, demolition or enabling works.
• Strong practical site experience and knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
• Experience carrying out audits, inspections, incident investigations and RAMS reviews.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
• SMSTS
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

• ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Internal Auditor experience
• Temporary Works Coordinator
• Environmental qualification
