Job summary

TRADEBE is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities at our Wrexham site. You will provide expert advice to site management, ensuring safety, compliance and operational efficiency in line with TRADEBE policies.

Working with operational teams, you will drive a strong SHEQ culture, maintain robust management systems, and support continuous improvement to achieve high standards of safety, environmental performance and product quality.

Qualifications

• Level 6 qualification in Health & Safety or Environment or equivalent.
• Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• Analytical approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance environmental, health & safety, quality and operational priorities.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) culture across the site.
• Manage hazard identification, risk assessments and process safety activities.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Environmental and Quality legislation, permits and policies.
• Oversee site SHEQ management systems, audits, inspections and emergency planning.
• Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Manage contractor safety, site inductions and SHEQ training.
• Oversee occupational health programmes including COSHH, health surveillance and monitoring.
• Monitor environmental performance and liaise with regulators.
• Provide SHEQ advice to site operations and support continuous improvement.
• Produce SHEQ performance reports and support sustainability data.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities at our Wrexham site. In this key role, you'll provide expert advice and guidance to site management, ensuring the business operates safely, efficiently and in full compliance with legal requirements and Tradebe's policies and procedures.

Working closely with operational teams, you'll drive a positive SHEQ culture, maintain robust management systems and support continuous improvement to ensure the site consistently achieves the highest standards of safety, environmental performance and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) culture across the site.
• Manage hazard identification, risk assessments and process safety activities, ensuring risks are reduced to ALARP standards.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality legislation, permits and company policies.
• Oversee site SHEQ management systems, including audits, inspections, emergency planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead incident, accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Manage contractor safety, site inductions and SHEQ training to maintain a competent and compliant workforce.
• Oversee occupational health programmes, including COSHH, health surveillance, noise, vibration and other statutory monitoring requirements.
• Monitor environmental performance, regulatory compliance and energy management, liaising with regulators where required.
• Manage customer quality matters, including Duty of Care audits, customer visits and complaint investigations.
• Provide technical SHEQ advice and support to site operations, identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, safety and compliance.
• Produce SHEQ performance reports and sustainability data, supporting corporate reporting and environmental initiatives.

Do you have what it takes?

• Level 6 qualification in Health & Safety or Environment, or equivalent competence
• Degree qualified in a scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• An analytical and investigative approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
• The ability to balance environmental, health & safety, quality and operational priorities.
• A strong understanding of Environmental Permitting and environmental compliance.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality management systems
• Sound understanding of HSE legislation, guidance and standards
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence at senior level
• Self-motivated with a proactive, can-do approach
• Effective stakeholder engagement, including regulators and external bodies
• Solid IT skills, including MS Office
