Job summary

Searley Owen Limited is seeking a proactive SHEQ Manager to own safety, health, environmental and quality performance across our established contracting business. This hands-on role lets you review existing processes, introduce improvements and shape SHEQ across operations.

The ideal candidate has experience in M&E, fire protection or construction, NEBOSH cert, and a track record of site audits, RAMS, and ISO audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience in SHEQ, health and safety or quality.
• Background in M&E, fire protection or construction.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience supporting live construction sites.
• Understanding of UK construction health and safety legislation (CDM).
• Experience managing ISO or third-party audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead SHEQ activities across the business and advise management and site teams.
• Maintain and improve SHEQ policies, procedures and systems.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and report findings with corrective actions.
• Review RAMS and COSHH to support safe working practices.
• Investigate accidents and near misses to identify root causes.
• Coordinate ISO and third‑party audits and improvements.
• Monitor environmental performance and waste management improvements.
• Maintain training records and coordinate inductions and toolbox talks.
• Support client audits and tender submissions.
• Report SHEQ performance and highlight recurring issues.
