Job summary

United Infrastructure, a dynamic and rapidly expanding business, is seeking a Second SHEQ Manager to join our Social Infrastructure team in the North of England. You will provide health and safety support to refurbishment projects, rooftop development, conversions and fire safety works.

Lead the SHEQ team, shape policies (ISO 9001/14001/45001), conduct risk assessments, investigations, and drive training. Ensure COSHH and Health and Safety at Work Act compliance, plus environmental and quality

Qualifications

  • Understanding of health and safety issues as they relate to property maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent required
  • CMIOSH or equivalent (or working towards this) required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SHEQ team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the SHEQ strategy aligned with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and update SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems (ISO 9001/14001/45001).
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses; implement control measures.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses and oversee corrective actions.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through training and leadership engagement.
  • Oversee occupational health programmes and environmental policies; ensure compliance with COSHH and Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Develop and deliver SHEQ training programmes for employees at all levels.

Social Infrastructure -Our team of Social Infrastructure specialists revitalise homes and communities by carrying out a wide range of work, from retrofit to refurbishment, and maintenance. Job Description Our Social Infrastructure pillar operates in the refurbishment and regeneration of thousands of properties nationally; we are currently looking for a Second SHEQ Manager to join our team in the North of England providing invaluable health and safety support and advice to teams undertaking cyclical internal/external refurbishment works to properties as well as exciting rooftop development, conversion and fire safety projects. Your role as SHEQ Manager will involve:

  • Manage the SHEQ team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the SHEQ strategy aligned with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and update SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Ensure policies are effectively communicated and understood throughout the organisation.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses for all operations. Implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes. Develop and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through training, awareness campaigns, and leadership engagement.
  • Oversee occupational health programmes, including health surveillance and wellness initiatives. Ensure compliance with health regulations, such as COSHH and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies to minimise the organisation's environmental footprint. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure products and services meet customer expectations. Conduct internal quality audits and manage external audits.
  • Develop and deliver SHEQ training programmes for employees at all levels. Ensure mandatory training requirements are met and records are maintained.
  • Prepare regular reports on SHEQ performance, including statistical analysis and trend identification. Present findings to senior management and recommend actions.
Qualifications

As a Management level role, we are looking for a SHEQ professional with previous construction/property services sector experience, in addition to a full UK driving license and vehicle for work purposes.

  • Understanding of health and safety issues as they relate to the property maintenance space, and ability to implement processes in line with industry standards.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors; we are looking for a team player who can add value to our operational teams.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • CMIOSH or equivalent (or be working towards this).
