Job summary

Voluntary Service Aberdeen (VSA) is seeking a compassionate Support Worker (Warden) for Bressay Brae Sheltered Housing. This part-time role provides care and housing support to residents, with 28 hours per week and a 3- or 4-day rota including every second weekend.

You will contribute to personalised care plans, support tenants with appointments, and promote activities, with extensive training and progression opportunities, and a commitment to safeguarding and health and safety.

Qualifications

• SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) within 3 years of appointment or as determined by VSA.
• Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Daily welfare checks.
• Developing, reviewing & maintaining personalised housing support plans using an online care management system.
• Supporting good relationships with fellow tenants and neighbours.
• Supporting tenants to arrange appointments with relevant professionals and signposting as appropriate.
• Encourage and support tenants to organise and attend social gatherings and activities.
• Supporting good relationships between landlords and tenants and reporting repairs.
• Assisting with security during shifts and ensuring safeguarding and health & safety regulations are followed.
• Responding to emergencies whilst on shift.
• Provide up-to-date information and advice to tenants/carers on benefits and assist with benefit applications.
• Undertake other duties within post-holders capabilities.
• Support and mentor new and relief staff.
• Develop knowledge and practice through training and development activities.

Education
