Job summary

Elix Sourcing Solutions seeks a skilled Sheet Metal Worker / Fabricator to join a market-leading engineering manufacturer in the Mid Kent area. The role focuses on precision sheet metal fabrication with a strong emphasis on reading drawings and operating CNC press brakes, guillotines, and rollers.

You will work Monday to Friday on days, with overtime opportunities and benefits. A solid background in tight-tolerance fabrication and quality control within an ISO 9001 environment is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience in precision sheet metal forming, bending, assembly and spot welding.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings independently.
• Experience operating CNC press brakes (LVD is an advantage), guillotines and powered rollers.
• Experience in ISO 9001 manufacturing environments.
• Bonus: TIG welding capability.

Responsibilities

• Fine-Limit Fabrication: execute precision sheet metal operations from bending to finishing.
• Read and work from complex engineering drawings to produce tight-tolerance components.
• Operate workshop tools and machinery including drilling, deburring and spot welding.
• Set up and run CNC press brakes (LVD), powered rollers and guillotines.
• Assemble high-quality sheet metal sub-assemblies with fabricated and machined parts.
• Adhere to ISO 9001 quality standards to ensure client tolerances.

£26,500 - £35,500 + Overtime + Benefits

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Fine-Limit Fabrication: Perform precision sheet metal operations covering bending, forming, fabrication, assembly, and finishing.
• Engineering Drawings: Confidently read, interpret, and work directly from complex engineering drawings to produce accurate components to tight specifications.
• Workshop Machinery: Operate workshop tools and machinery proficiently, including drilling, deburring, and spot welding.
• CNC Operation: Setup and operate CNC press brakes (particularly LVD systems), as well as powered rollers and guillotines.
• Sub-Assembly: Build high-quality sheet metal assemblies incorporating both fabricated and machined components.
• Quality Assurance: Work strictly within an ISO 9001 accredited quality system, ensuring all components meet exact client tolerances and standards.

What We're Looking For

• Fine-Limit Experience (Essential): Proven hands-on background in precision sheet metal forming, bending, assembly, and spot welding.
• Drawing Literacy: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings independently.
• Machine Competency: Experience operating CNC Press Brakes (LVD experience is a strong advantage), guillotines, and powered rollers.
• Quality Standard: Previous experience working within an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
• Bonus Skills: TIG welding capability is highly beneficial but not essential.
