Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment is seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman in Sittingbourne to lead the day to day sheet metal production, manage staffing and resources, and drive productivity and quality targets. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong supervision and problem-solving in a manufacturing environment.

You will oversee daily operations, coach team Leaders, and ensure safety, training, and continuous improvement across the factory.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years' supervisory experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of laser cutting, punch press, press brake, MIG/TIG welding and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the sheet metal production department.
• Allocate labour and machine resources to meet production priorities.
• Monitor workflow, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
• Lead, coach, and develop production employees and Team Leaders.
• Conduct daily production meetings and shift briefings.
• Ensure customer specifications and quality requirements are met.
• Investigate production and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain health, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Stores teams.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs including OTIF, labour productivity, quality, machine utilisation, scrap reduction and health & safety performance.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3-5 years' supervisory experience within a sheet metal manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of laser cutting, punch press, press brake, MIG/TIG welding, and assembly
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Experience using root cause analysis techniques such as 5 Whys
• Organised, hands‑on, and confident working under pressure
• Desirable Lean Manufacturing experience
• 3S/5S knowledge
• IOSH Managing Safely
• First Aid qualification
