Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a dynamic Safety, Health & Environmental Manager for our Henlow site. You will lead the on-site implementation of SHE policies, driving continual improvement and a strong safety culture across Manufacturing, Facility Management and Security teams.

The role requires a Diploma in OH&S (level 6 preferred) with significant manufacturing SHE experience, and there may be travel to other MBDA UK locations. Hybrid work pattern applies with on-site and remote days.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (level 6 preferred).
• Significant experience in Safety, Health & Environment in a manufacturing environment.
• Broad understanding of manufacturing and laboratory technologies.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to MBDA operations.
• Experience in a SHE role at a COMAH facility would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support on-site to ensure Company SHE policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
• Help develop a SHE culture of continual improvement.
• Work with Manufacturing, Facility Management, Security & Explosive Safety; travel to MBDA UK locations may be required.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and self‑driven Safety, Health & Environmental Manager to join the MBDA team at our Henlow site. If you are passionate about safety, health and reducing our impact on the environment, this challenging but rewarding position may be for you.

Salary: Circa £53,000 depending on experience

Dynamic working pattern: Typically 3 days on-site and 2 days remote working each week.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Supporting management and employees on-site to ensure the Company SHE policies and procedures are effectively implemented while helping to develop a SHE culture of continual improvement. You will work closely with a number of departments in the business, including Manufacturing, Facility Management, Security & Explosive Safety. You will have the opportunity to gain practical and professional experience in a challenging sector. You will be part of a supportive and high performing team that exposes team members to all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment activities in the pursuit of professional development and team cohesion. The role may involve travel to other MBDA UK locations.

What we’re looking for from you

• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (level 6 preferred).
• Significant experience and expertise in Safety, Health, Environment in a manufacturing environment.
• Broad understanding of manufacturing and laboratory technologies.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation, its application and interpretation relevant to MBDA operations.
• Experience of working in a SHE role at a COMAH facility would be advantageous.
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
• Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels in the organisation.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to translate complex information into easily understandable formats.
