Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a motivated SHE Advisor to join the Safety, Health, and Environment team on a major National Grid framework in the Canterbury region. You will support mobilisation and delivery, ensuring safety, health and environmental standards across multiple live projects.

You will collaborate with operational teams, contractors and stakeholders to drive a positive SHE culture, maintain systems, and promote best practice within a large-scale infrastructure programme

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety certification.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in a health, safety, or environmental discipline.
  • Experience working in a SHE, health & safety, or health, safety & environmental role.
  • Experience supporting health and safety management systems and compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day SHE advice and support to project teams across multiple sites.
  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture throughout all project activities.
  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of SHE management systems and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and assurance activities, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Assist with incident investigations, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious SHE Advisor to join our team on a major National Grid framework, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of high-profile infrastructure projects.


As part of the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) team, you will support projects through mobilisation and delivery, helping to ensure the highest standards of safety, health and environmental performance are achieved. You will collaborate closely with operational teams, contractors, and stakeholders to drive a positive SHE culture, support compliance and promote best practice across multiple live project environments.


Role Responsibilities


  • Provide day-to-day SHE advice and support to project teams across multiple sites.

  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture throughout all project activities.

  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of SHE management systems and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, company standards, and client requirements.

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and assurance activities, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.

  • Assist with incident investigations, identifying root causes and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.

  • Monitor SHE performance and contribute to reporting requirements.

  • Deliver SHE briefings, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.

  • Build strong working relationships with project teams, contractors, and key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.


Skills, Experience And Qualifications


  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety certification.

  • Relevant vocational qualifications in a health, safety, or environmental discipline.

  • Experience working in a SHE, Health & Safety, or Health, Safety & Environmental role.

  • Experience supporting health and safety management systems and compliance processes.

  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

  • Experience working on major infrastructure, construction, utilities, or engineering projects.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to influence behaviours and promote a positive SHE culture at all levels.

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Competent in producing reports, maintaining records, and communicating SHE performance information.

  • Experience within the energy, utilities, or power sector.

  • Experience supporting projects through mobilisation and delivery phases.

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body.

  • Experience working within large-scale framework or programme-based delivery environments.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.


Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
