Job summary

Essential Recruitment is seeking a Sewing Machinist in Long Eaton to join a busy manufacturing team on a temporary to permanent basis. You will operate overlock machines, join fabric pieces, and ensure high-quality finishes.

Previous sewing machine experience is preferred; training is provided. The role offers 39 hours per week, £14 per hour, with early finish on Fridays and optional overtime within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience operating overlock sewing machines is desirable.
• Upholstery sewing experience would be advantageous.
• Experience sewing clothing, curtains, or other textiles with training provided.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate overlock sewing machines to sew and finish garment seams.
• Accurately join fabric pieces in line with specifications and production requirements.
• Ensure all products meet high-quality sewing and finishing standards.
• Inspect garments for defects, loose threads, and sewing faults.
• Follow patterns, work instructions, and production orders.
• Work towards production targets while maintaining excellent quality standards.
• Set up, thread, and adjust overlock machines for different fabrics and products.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance, including replacing needles and reporting faults.
• Measure and check completed work to ensure accuracy.
• Work with a variety of fabrics, including stretch, woven, and knitted materials.

Sewing Machinist - Long Eaton

We are currently recruiting for a Sewing Machinist to join a busy and growing manufacturing team in Long Eaton on a temporary to permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone with previous sewing machine experience who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.

In this Sewing Machinist role you will be working with garments, sewing fabric pieces together, overlocking and inspecting finished items.

Pay / Hours:

• £14.00 per hour
• 39 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

• Monday to Thursday: 6am - 3pm
• Friday: 6am - 11am
• 30-minute unpaid lunch break
• 15-minute paid break daily
• Optional overtime available
