Overview

The School of Creative Industries at Kingston College is seeking a Technical Instructor to assist and support academic staff during formal classes and to instruct, supervise and assess individual students or groups of students with or without a member of teaching staff present.

Largely based within Fashion & textiles, you’ll support the delivery of pattern cutting, garment construction, textile manipulation and printing. Supporting students to use specialist equipment and materials safely and appropriately, ensuring users are compliant with necessary health and safety requirements, you’ll maintain the efficient and safe functioning of classrooms, studios and workshops.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support academic staff during formal classes and instruct, supervise and assess individual students or groups of students with or without a member of teaching staff present.
  • Largely based within Fashion & textiles, support the delivery of pattern cutting, garment construction, textile manipulation and printing.
  • Support students to use specialist equipment and materials safely and appropriately, ensuring users are compliant with health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain the efficient and safe functioning of classrooms, studios and workshops.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience and good working knowledge of specialist equipment and resources across a range of Art and Design specialisms, with evidence of understanding relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • Qualification in a relevant Art and Design specialism (ideally Level 4 or above).
  • Experience using Microsoft applications, including the Adobe suite.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a positive mindset, strong communication skills, organised and able to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
