Job summary

UHI invites applications from qualified optometrists or dispensing opticians for an Optometry Clinical Tutor role. The position is sessional, based in Inverness, delivering clinical skills teaching and supervising student clinics for the BSc (Hons) Optometry and the new MOptom degree.

The post is part-time and sessional, requiring a minimum of 3 sessions per semester (up to 4 hours each). Pay is hourly, aligned with the UHI grade 6 pay scale; PVG checks and USS pension apply.

Qualifications

• GOC registered Optometrist or Dispensing Optician.
• Commitment to minimum 3 sessions per semester (up to 4 hours per session).
• Hourly rate based on UHI grade 6 pay scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical skills teaching support.
• Assist with delivery of clinical skills modules in the optometry curriculum.
• Supervise volunteer patient clinic sessions and support students’ learning.
