Job summary

South Thames College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to teach GCSE Maths and Maths Functional Skills to students aged 16-19 at the Wandsworth campus. You will deliver teaching in line with schemes of work and assessment schedules, creating assessments in accordance with college policies and awarding body requirements.

You will hold a degree or relevant qualification in mathematics or a related subject, plus a teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification in an appropriate subject area.
  • Be able to teach GCSE and Functional Skills Mathematics to 16-19 year olds.
  • Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and passion for maths education.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver teaching to GCSE Maths and Maths Functional Skills to 16-19 year olds.
  • Follow schemes of work and assessment schedules and develop effective assessments.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in maths education and innovative teaching practices.
  • Plan, prepare and manage priorities to meet deadlines.

The School of Employability at South Thames College is looking to appoint a Sessional Lecturer to teach a combination of GCSE Maths and Maths Functional Skills. The GCSE teaching will be predominantly to students aged 16-19 years of age.

You will deliver teaching in line with agreed schemes of work and assessment schedules, developing and implementing effective assessment strategies in accordance with college policies and awarding body requirements. You will keep abreast of developments within your specialist subject areas as well as current practices and innovations in education and training.

As our Lecturer, you will hold a degree or relevant professional qualification in an appropriate subject area, together with a teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one. You will have excellent teaching skills in GCSE and Functional Skills Mathematics to students aged 16-19 years of age. We are looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for both the subject and education. You will be able to support and motivate learners, monitor their progress effectively, and utilise innovative technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

With high personal standards and expectations, you will possess strong planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working effectively to deadlines.
