Job summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University seeks Associate Tutors to teach in BA Architecture, BSc Architectural Design & Technology and other cross-School modules on an occasional or sessional basis. Candidates should demonstrate a strong grasp of academic and professional practice, clear communication, and enthusiasm for student learning.

The role requires a good honours degree, a relevant master’s degree or equivalent qualification, and the ability to contribute to teaching, assessment and curriculum

Qualifications

• A good honours degree in architecture, architectural technology, or cognate discipline.
• A good master’s degree in a relevant discipline, and/or equivalent professional qualification.
• Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme.
• Knowledge in architecture, architectural technology, and related areas.
• Evidence of undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).
• A sound understanding of pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and be familiar with relevant course documents and assessment information.
• Coordinate with programme team to understand requirements and plan changes.
• Prepare effective course material and promote a student-centred learning experience.
• Attend and deliver sessions, lecture, lead discussions and provide guidance.
• Prepare and mark related written work and examinations within assessment procedures.
• Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on progress.
• Maintain attendance and assessment records as required by the University.
• Observe class opening/closing times and inform the Head of Department of absences.
• Provide course/work plans, objectives and reading lists when appropriate.
