The Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture invites applications for an Associate Lecturer in Technical Studies to join our postgraduate teaching team. You will bring specialist technical expertise and support a small cohort of 6–9 students over 16 days, mainly between January and early June.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable professional expertise in environmental design, structural design, retrofit or technical architecture.
• Experience in postgraduate teaching and familiarity with professional architectural education requirements (RIBA/ARB) is desirable.
• Commitment to high-quality postgraduate teaching and inclusive, supportive learning environments.
• A Master’s degree in a related discipline, supervising Master’s-level work and delivering postgraduate courses is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Teach postgraduate students in Technical Studies, covering existing buildings and retrofit, vernacular and passive design, structure and materials, and planet-positive performance.
• Provide individual and group tutorials, guide students’ technical development and give constructive feedback.
• Contribute to assessment, curriculum development and relevant programme activities, connecting architectural ambition with technical rigour and environmental responsibility.
