Who are we?
CSS Service Solution Architects (SSAs) are advanced support and managed services presales subject matter experts. CSS SSAs collaborate closely with the CSS sales teams during sales opportunities, engaging at senior levels within existing and new Oracle customers.
They utilize their extensive experience in IT support and managed services to capture customer requirements, explore all potential options, and develop compelling service propositions.
The SSAs play a crucial role in helping Oracle’s customers maximize their investments in Oracle Cloud (including OCI and SaaS), on-premise, and hybrid environments, to innovate faster and accelerate business success.
The focus of the SSAs is on service solutions for Oracle technologies, including cutting-edge and complex custom requirements.
In addition to broad experience in IT services and technologies, each SSA typically possesses deep expertise in specific service or technology areas, acting as the subject-matter lead within those domains.
CSS SSAs should have experience in delivering comprehensive service commercial propositions concerning pricing, approvals, legal, and contracting.
All CSS SSAs must have excellent customer-facing presentation and interaction skills, including active listening. They should be capable of engaging with senior management and C-level executives, articulating service and technology solutions in terms of business value and risk.

Responsibilities
- Identify, foster, and define Oracle CSS service solutions for specific customer opportunities, supporting sales efforts alongside CSS sales representatives.
- Collaborate with customers, CSS management, and wider Oracle account teams to:
- Understand the customer’s business and IT strategic requirements to identify large-scale CSS opportunities that align with their strategic goals.
- Gather and assess both business and technical customer needs, translating these into CSS service solutions.
- Build and lead virtual teams for large-scale opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with customers to articulate both high-level principles and detailed components of proposed service solutions.
- Build customer loyalty by establishing a trusted advisor relationship.
- Proactively develop and leverage an extensive network across Oracle lines of business, becoming recognized as a high-value SME in service solutions.
- Collaborate internally and externally to ensure effective service solution design and development.
- Drive compelling proposals, presentations, and communications during opportunities.
- Manage service solution costing and pricing to meet commercial and contracting requirements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the IT services marketplace and competitive landscape.
- Work with various groups including sales, delivery, risk management, contracts, and product management.
- Coordinate with CSS delivery throughout the sales cycle for a smooth transition from sales to delivery.
- Navigate Oracle internal tools and processes effectively.
- Share knowledge with deal participants, account teams, delivery, and the CSS Service Solution Architect community.
Experience
CSS SSAs should have 10+ years of relevant IT services experience across diverse technologies and customer sectors.
A typical profile includes most of the following:
- Over 10 years in IT services, including significant roles within external IT service providers.
- Broad understanding of enterprise applications and IT infrastructures, including public and on-premises cloud, especially Oracle technologies.
- Experience in IT services presales roles within an IT services provider.
- General experience in IT service operations and management, including managed services and outsourcing.
- IT project and program management experience, including transformation, migration, and deployment projects.
- Experience in commercial and contract management, including pricing construction and negotiation for complex services.
- Proven ability to architect, implement, and deliver complex service solutions in mission-critical environments.
- Consulting experience and trusted-advisor roles within major customer organizations.
- Ability to construct and deliver compelling presentations and propositions.
- Experience managing multiple IT services bids simultaneously.
