Ashfield District Council is seeking an experienced Service Manager – Waste to lead and develop our waste services across Sutton-In-Ashfield. You will drive high service quality, cost effectiveness, and health and safety compliance, while empowering Team Leaders to manage staff performance.
The role includes preparing reports and policies, implementing modern practices, and steering the project to introduce weekly food waste collections from October 2027, with interview in late August 2026.

We are looking for an experienced forward-thinking individual who is enthusiastic about delivering quality timely waste services.
The Service Managers role is to support the strategic environmental aims of the Council and to manage and organise our waste services to ensure (amongst other things):
This individual will also be responsible for providing effective advice and support to the other service managers within Neighbourhoods and across the Council with regards to waste collection.
This individual will be key to creating a dynamic flexible service that meets the needs of the residents and members.
The Council will be introducing weekly food waste collections in October 2027 and this individual will be required to lead on this project.
The ability to write reports and policies to a high standard will be required in this role.
This person will be an experienced people manager and bring new ideas on how the service can be improved and updated and bring in modern practices and technological ideas.
