Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in West Essex is recruiting a Service Manager to provide strong operational leadership across Trauma and Orthopaedics and Rheumatology. This role focuses on delivering safe, patient-centred pathways and coordinating complex clinical services.

You will oversee performance, workforce, finance and service development across your portfolio, working with Clinical Leads and senior staff to ensure timely surgical care and alignment with national priorities.

Qualifications

• Experience in service management within a clinical setting.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive service improvement.
• Strong data analysis and governance skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for surgical services.
• Deliver performance against targets including RTT, cancer, diagnostics and flow.
• Lead capacity and demand planning across theatres, clinics, diagnostics, wards and SDEC.
• Coordinate consultant and SAS doctor job planning and ensure alignment to service demand.
• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention and service resilience.
