Job summary

Equans is seeking a Service Manager - Gas to join our team in Coleshill, Birmingham. This full-time position includes a competitive salary, company vehicle, bonus and benefits.

You will lead and mentor the team, ensuring quality, health and safety compliance, and regulatory adherence on site. The role focuses on managing trade operatives, maintaining performance, and delivering contract requirements with strong safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Gas ACS qualification is required.
• Must hold a current driving licence.
• City and Guilds or trade qualification is essential.
• Scaffold Inspection competency is required.
• SMSTS/SSSTS certification is preferred.
• First Aid at Work is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the team, reporting to the Operations Manager as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety, legal and environmental standards and company policies.
• Verify operatives are competent, qualified and compliant with current regulations.
• Conduct regular appraisals to support development and succession planning.
• Mobilise or cover absence as required within the role and organisation.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Service Manager - Gas to join our team in Coleshill, Birmingham. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle, bonus and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

• Providing support, mentoring and continual guidance for the team, reporting back to the Operations Manager where needed.
• Ensure all activities meet with requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care – Seeking further advise where appropriate
• Ensuring trade operatives are competent and qualified to carry out their role in line with the legal responsibilities.
• Ensuring all trade operatives remain compliant with current rules and regulations, defined by the governing body.
• Undertake appraisals to capture the development needs of each individual, with a focus on succession planning.
• To either mobilise or provide absence cover in accordance with your Job role and position within the organisation.
• Ensure the Operations Manager is notified of any underperforming employee/Sub-Contractor within the team so where applicable they can be coached/mentored/disciplined as required in order to achieve desired standards, appropriate time keeping, productivity and compliance with the Company’s values and employee handbook.
• Recommend necessary changes to improve performance based on analysis of weekly/daily Key Performance Indicator statistics.
• Maintain minimum resource levels to achieve internal commercial and safety targets without compromising customer requirements
• Escalate any issue of concern/potential concern to the Operations Manager as required to ensure a pro-active approach is maintained and service delivery is not impacted.
• Lead, motivate and direct your teams on all work streams to ensure high working standards.
• To ensure daily that the contract is delivered to the specific contractual requirements.
• Maintain high levels of Health and Safety on site at all times.
• Ensure a high number of daily inspections are completed on Trade Operatives / nominated sub-contractors.
• To liaise with the planners to implement the most efficient and profitable daily plan for operatives/Sub-Contractor to deliver.
