Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited in Cambridge is seeking a Service Engineer (Mechanical / Plant Machinery) to service, maintain and repair a wide range of construction machinery in a workshop-based role. You will diagnose faults across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems and benefit from in-house training and mentorship.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, on-site parking and clear routes for progression, with salary £20-£21 per hour plus overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Workshop Engineer, Plant Engineer or similar.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working on construction, agricultural or similar machinery.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of machinery.

Are you an Engineer with a strong mechanical or electrical background looking to join a well-established company that offers specialist training and long‑term progression?

Are you looking for a stable, workshop-based role where you can take ownership of repairs, fault finding and servicing on a wide range of construction machinery, while benefiting from fantastic in‑house training and mentorship from experienced senior engineers to further develop your technical skills?

This growing engineering business specialises in the maintenance and repair of machinery across sectors such as construction, agricultural and recycling. Due to continued success, they are now looking to bring in an experienced Workshop Engineer to strengthen their team.

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and servicing equipment to a high standard. You will work on hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems, playing a key role in ensuring machinery is maintained and ready for customer use.

This role would suit an experienced mechanical Engineer or Plant Engineer looking for a secure, well-supported position with opportunities to further develop and progress.

The Role
