Job summary

Prime Appointments Ltd is seeking an experienced Service Engineer with strong mechanical and electrical skills to install, commission, maintain and repair industrial equipment across the UK and occasionally overseas. You will travel to customer sites, diagnose faults, provide training and documentation, and act as a technical expert, ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing industrial or commercial equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Experience with PLCs, control systems or automation.
• Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or City & Guilds.
• Full UK driving license and passport.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and configure machinery at customer sites.
• Carry out site acceptance testing and ensure equipment is fully operational.
• Provide customer demonstrations and operational training where required.
• Complete installation and commissioning documentation.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and control systems.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimize customer downtime.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support.
• Investigate recurring faults and recommend long-term solutions.
• Complete service reports, timesheets, expenses and RAMS.
• Record parts used, labour hours, expenses and equipment condition.
• Maintain vehicles, tools, test equipment and spare parts.
• Follow all company H&S procedures and site rules.

Are you an experienced Service Engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical background?

This is a varied field-based role involving the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of industrial equipment at customer sites across the UK and occasionally overseas.

You will become a technical expert in the company's machinery, providing high-quality service and technical support while always representing the business professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission and configure machinery at customer sites.

About You

• Previous experience servicing, maintaining and repairing industrial or commercial equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• A sound understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• A flexible approach to overnight stays and worldwide travel.
• A full UK driving license and valid passport.
• Competence with Microsoft Office.
• HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Experience with PLCs, control systems or automation.
• Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or City & Guilds.
