Job summary

Alan Bettin Swimming Pools Ltd is seeking a Service Engineer to service and maintain pools, spas and related equipment at customers' sites. You’ll work independently and with colleagues, traveling to domestic and commercial locations within a 30‑mile radius of Seale.

The role is hands‑on, involves lifting equipment and may include home‑based start/end from a company vehicle. DBS checks and safety training are required, with on‑the‑job and formal training provided.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence and willingness to work towards Tn ISPE.
• A‑Level or equivalent (BTEC/NATD).
• Safety-conscious, especially around chemicals, tools and equipment.
• Well organised with high standard of work.
• Excellent communicator with customers; can explain technical issues clearly.
• Keen to learn via on‑the‑job and formal training.
• Hands-on experience with basic hand tools.
• Experience in plumbing, electrical or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with water chemistry, filtration or heating.
• DBS checked and health and safety qualified.
• COSHH training or experience.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and fault-finding pools, spas and equipment.
• Water testing, chemical treatment and maintaining water quality.
• Pool filtration, pumps, heating and circulation systems.
• Plumbing and pipework installation and repairs (ABS, PVC, copper).
• Seasonal pool opening/closing, winterisation and routine maintenance.
• Indoor pool environmental systems and equipment.
• Leak detection and repair.
• Pool lining work and vinyl liner installation/removal.
• General repairs on saunas/steam rooms.
• Safe use of tools, machinery and pool chemicals.
• Maintain van stock, tools and equipment; assist with deliveries.
• Carry out additional tasks as requested by senior/manager.

Service Engineer

• Location: Clients' domestic pools, commercial pools
• Head quarters: Seale GU10 1LD
• Reports to: Service Director
• Supervisory responsibility for: Sub-contractors, Junior engineers & apprentices
• Normal Hours of work: Mon – Fri 0730-1700

Job overview

This is a varied, hands-on role working at customers' homes and other sites, as well as occasionally at our own premises. You'll work independently and alongside colleagues and subcontractors, carrying out servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on swimming pools, spas and associated equipment.

The role is physically active and will involve lifting and moving equipment and materials.

The role is based within a 30-mile radius of our offices in Seale and therefore candidates will need to reside within this area.

Service Engineers are often remote working from a company vehicle often starting or ending their day from home.

Employees may be required to work at domestic, commercial and other sites where children and vulnerable adults may be present and therefore employees are required to comply with site safeguarding requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and fault-finding swimming pools, spas and associated equipment.

• General repairs, maintenance and occasional work on saunas and steam rooms.
• Safe use of tools, machinery and pool chemicals.
• Maintaining van stock, tools and equipment and assisting with deliveries when required.
• Carry out any reasonable additional task which a senior or manager asks you to do which benefits the organisation.

Skills and qualifications

• Full driving licence
• Hold or be willing to work towards holding the Tn ISPE qualification
• A – Level or similar (BTEC/NATD)
• Safety-conscious, particularly when working with chemicals, tools and equipment.
• Well organised and able to maintain a high standard of work.
• A good communicator who is comfortable dealing professionally with customers and explaining technical issues clearly.
• Keen to learn and develop their skills through on-the-job and formal training.
