Job description
Overview

We are seeking applications for an operational management role within a teaching hospital. The successful candidate will lead the day‑to‑day operational running of a portfolio of departments within Dental, OMFS and Ophthalmology at the Royal London Dental Hospital. The role is based across the Royal London and Whipps Cross Hospital and may require attendance at other Barts Health NHS Trust sites as the service requires.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day operational management of a delegated portfolio of services including outpatient and theatre management.
  • Manage 18‑week RTT, DM01 and cancer pathways and optimise outpatient and theatre productivity.
  • Oversee financial management of a delegated budget and audit key performance indicators.
  • Develop and manage admin and clerical staff, rota and timetable for clinicians within the portfolio.
  • Manage complaints, clinical incidents and risk governance.
  • Maintain good team morale, culture and service improvement initiatives.
Other Information

Work closely with senior clinicians, patient pathway coordinators, undergraduate dental team, service management teams, consultants, resident dentists, dental nurse managers and QMUL colleagues. The post holder will liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the outpatient booking process is efficient and fit for purpose. The advert closes on Monday 5 Jan 2026.
