Ser- in Birmingham seeks an experienced Service Chemist / Account Manager to blend technical water treatment expertise with account management. You will manage a portfolio of commercial and industrial clients, perform regular water analyses, ensure compliant treatment programs, and identify opportunities for additional services.

This role combines hands-on water treatment delivery with account management, building long-term customer relationships and delivering high-quality service across site

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or commercial water treatment.
• Experience servicing cooling towers, boilers, and closed systems.
• Strong water chemistry knowledge and treatment programmes.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine water analysis and testing on cooling towers and related systems.
• Monitor water chemistry and ensure treatment programmes are effective.
• Provide technical recommendations based on test results.
• On-site service visits as per schedule and maintain service reports.
• Manage existing customer accounts and build strong relationships.
• Identify opportunities to upsell water treatment products and services.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on sales opportunities.

Position - Service Chemist / Account Manager

Industry – Water Treatment

Location - Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (DOE) Field/Remote, Company Car/Car Allowance, Bonus/Commission + Excellent Benefits, superb holiday entitlement, remarkable Pension.

Purpose of the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Chemist / Account Manager to join a well-established and growing water treatment business. This is a varied role combining technical water treatment expertise with account management responsibilities.

You will be responsible for managing an established portfolio of commercial and industrial clients, providing regular water analysis, ensuring treatment programmes remain compliant and effective, while identifying opportunities to introduce additional services and solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building long-term customer relationships while remaining hands‑on with technical service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine water analysis and testing on cooling towers, closed systems, steam boilers and associated water systems.
• Monitor water chemistry and ensure treatment programmes are operating effectively.
• Interpret test results and provide technical recommendations to customers.
• Conduct on‑site service visits in accordance with planned schedules.
• Maintain accurate service reports and treatment records.
• Manage an existing portfolio of customer accounts.
• Build strong relationships with clients and act as their primary technical contact.
• Identify opportunities to upsell additional water treatment products and services.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on sales opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and water treatment standards.
• Liaise with internal technical and operations teams to ensure excellent customer service.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience within industrial or commercial water treatment.
• Experience servicing cooling towers, steam boilers and closed heating/chilled water systems.
• Good understanding of water chemistry and treatment programmes.
• Previous experience as a Service Chemist, Water Treatment Engineer, Account Manager or similar role.
• Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify sales opportunities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
