Job summary

FirstPort Limited is seeking an entry-level Service Charge Accountant to join our finance team in New Milton. You will assist with budgeting, reconciliation and reporting for service charge accounts across residential properties, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates will have basic accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, good Excel skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. AAT is welcome but not required, and training is provided.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles.

• Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
• Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and maintaining service charge cost estimates.
• Manage a portfolio of service charge accounts with accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and review financial statements for homeowners.
• Deliver to department metrics and support the wider team.
• Liaise with auditors and external accountants.

Location: New Milton

Salary: Competitive Salary plus benefits

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm (35 hours per week)

Your Role, Your Impact

As a Service Charge Accountant (Entry Level) you will help manage service charge accounts for residential and commercial properties. This involves supporting the senior team with budgeting, reconciliation, and reporting to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and maintaining service charge cost estimates
• Manage a portfolio of service charge accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and review financial statements for homeowners
• Deliver to department metrics & support wider team
• Liaising closely with auditors and/or external accountants

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; accounting software knowledge is a plus.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• A relevant accounting qualification (e.g. AAT) is a plus but not required.
