Job summary

Irwin Mitchell LLP in Sheffield is seeking a proactive Paralegal to join the Serious Injury team. You will support solicitors with progression of complex personal injury claims, review medical records and case documents, and liaise with clients and third parties to help deliver high-quality client service.

In this role you will gain exposure to high-quality serious injury work while working closely with experienced lawyers, supporting the team across multiple cases and stages of litigation.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a legal environment, ideally within personal injury or serious injury
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident reviewing and working with volumes of documentation and evidence
• Clear and professional communication with clients, colleagues and external professionals
• Sensitive and empathetic approach when dealing with clients and families following life-changing injury
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy team
• Proactive and takes ownership of their work
• Interested in developing knowledge of complex serious injury litigation
• Enthusiastic about building relationships and contributing to team growth
• Experience and/or interest in developing professional networks or business development

Responsibilities

• Assisting solicitors with the day-to-day progression of serious injury claims
• Reviewing and organising medical records, evidence and other case documentation
• Preparing chronologies, bundles and case documents
• Assisting with instructions to medical and other expert witnesses
• Liaising with clients, experts, rehabilitation professionals and other third parties
• Assisting with preparation of correspondence, court documents and other materials
• Supporting the team with management of key stages and deadlines
• Undertaking legal and factual research as required
• Contributing to the continued development of the Serious Injury team
