Our client

Our client is a marketing agency working with ambitious entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and growing SMEs. They act as an extension of their clients' teams, using digital marketing, automation and AI to help businesses grow.

They are expanding their in-house team and looking for an SEO Specialist to take ownership of organic search performance across a portfolio of clients. This is an opportunity to work with growing businesses, including a national client with more than 30 locations, and see the impact of your work.

The role

This is a broad, hands-on SEO role covering technical SEO, content optimisation, local search and link acquisition. You'll set priorities, carry out the work and explain the results clearly to clients.

You'll report to the Agency Director and work closely with a Web Developer, who will implement technical changes, and a copywriter, who will produce content from your briefs. As part of a small team, you'll need to manage your time well, keep colleagues informed and feel comfortable speaking with clients by phone or video call.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning organic search strategy and performance across a portfolio of clients
  • Carrying out technical SEO audits using tools such as Screaming Frog, Semrush and Ahrefs, then turning your findings into clear priorities for the Web Developer
  • Improving site architecture, indexability, crawlability, Core Web Vitals and structured data
  • Managing local SEO for multi-location clients, including location pages, Google Business Profiles, citations and review strategy
  • Researching keywords and search intent, preparing content briefs and improving on-page content and internal linking
  • Planning and delivering link acquisition campaigns through outreach, partnerships, relevant content and local citations
  • Monitoring backlink profiles and identifying opportunities or issues
  • Tracking organic performance through GA4, Google Search Console and GTM, and reporting on rankings, traffic and conversions in plain English
  • Keeping up with developments in AI search and helping the agency shape its approach
  • Contributing SEO audits and forecasts to new business proposals
About you

Our client is looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and can balance the different parts of SEO, from technical problem-solving to outreach and client communication. You'll be organised, conscientious and comfortable working independently within part-time hours, while being a supportive member of a small team.

You'll ideally have:

  • * Hands-on SEO experience, including technical SEO and off-page work, preferably across multiple websites or clients
  • * Strong working knowledge of Screaming Frog, Semrush or Ahrefs, GA4, Google Search Console and GTM
  • * The technical understanding to identify issues and clearly specify fixes for a developer
  • * Experience carrying out link-building outreach or digital PR and securing relevant links
  • * Experience with keyword research, content optimisation and local SEO
  • * The ability to explain your recommendations and results clearly to clients
  • * An interest in how AI is changing search and how it can support efficient, high-quality work
