Job summary

Manpower are seeking an interim Sensory Specialist to work with Unilever at its Port Sunlight Village, Wirral R&D facility. The role is a 6-month full-time temporary contract (37.5 hours per week) with pro rata pay from £34,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

You will develop sensory capability, manage sensory panels, and translate data into insights to support product development. Fragrance experience is not essential, as candidates from broader sensory or consumer research

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Consumer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemistry or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, ideally with placement or practical research experience.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills for coordinating studies and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sensory capability and methodologies for evaluating products and fragrances.
  • Manage sensory panel studies end-to-end: training, scheduling and data quality checks.
  • Analyse results and produce clear reports for internal teams and partners.
  • Ensure data governance and ethical handling of personal data in sensory testing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on sensory research initiatives.
