Job summary

Manpower are seeking an interim Sensory Specialist to join a global FMCG client in Wirral. The role runs for 6 months with 37.5 hours/week, £34,000–£45,000 pro rata, based in Port Sunlight.

You will support sensory evaluation, manage panels and translate data into insights for product development. Experience in fragrance is not essential; applicants from broader sensory or consumer research backgrounds are welcome.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in sensory science, sensory evaluation, panel management, consumer research or product testing.
• Experience as a trained sensory panellist, with potential to develop into panel management or study coordination.
• Master's degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Consumer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemistry or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, ideally with placement or practical research experience.
• Understanding of research methods, study design, data quality and interpretation of sensory data.
• Strong organisational and communication skills for coordinating studies with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply sensory approaches to understand product and fragrance experiences.
• Support high-performing panels and introduce relevant methodologies.
• Manage sensory panel studies end-to-end including training and scheduling.
• Translate sensory data into insights for product development and consumer experience.
• Maintain best practices and champion data quality in sensory research.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to extend sensory capability.
