Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a Social Care Practitioner to join the Sensory Needs Service on a full-time permanent basis. You will support adults to live meaningfully in their communities, with supervision from a social worker or occupational therapist and a focus on what matters to individuals.

There is a clear development pathway, with progression to Grade 6 after meeting criteria, and essential Deafblind or RO VI training after probation.

Qualifications

• Experience in health or social care or people-facing roles.
• Strong IT skills and ability to learn IT systems used in Adult Social Care.
• Ability to engage with people with different communication needs and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Carry out strengths-based assessments and reviews of people’s day-to-day lives and support arrangements.
• Write reports and maintain accurate records.
• Build positive relationships with residents and support a wide range of communication needs.
• Work closely with colleagues as part of a team.
