Job summary

MCS Group in Belfast is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to own and optimize deployment pipelines and infrastructure. You will collaborate with developers to shape how applications are built, deployed and monitored, and drive automation across cloud environments.

The role requires hands-on expertise with containers, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD tooling, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

Senior DevOps Engineer - Belfast / Hybrid

MCS Group is delighted to be working with an established international organisation to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer for its Belfast technology team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of infrastructure improvements, strengthen deployment processes and help engineering teams build and release reliable software.

The Role

Working closely with developers and wider technology teams, you will help shape how applications are deployed, monitored and supported. You'll combine hands‑on engineering with input into technical decisions, identifying opportunities to automate processes and improve the production environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and improving CI/CD pipelines to support consistent, reliable releases.
• Developing infrastructure as code and reducing manual configuration.
• Supporting containerised applications and Kubernetes environments.
• Improving monitoring, logging and alerting to help teams identify and resolve issues.
• Troubleshooting infrastructure and deployment problems alongside development teams.
• Sharing knowledge and contributing to engineering standards and continuous improvement.

The Person

You'll bring experience in a DevOps, cloud or platform engineering role, with a practical approach to automation and problem‑solving.

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Experience supporting cloud infrastructure and production applications.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tooling and deployment automation.
• Experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure as code tools.
• Hands‑on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• An understanding of observability, system reliability and troubleshooting.
• The communication skills to work closely with developers and explain technical decisions.

You don't need experience with every tool in the environment. Strong engineering fundamentals, relevant hands‑on experience and a willingness to learn are equally valuable.
