Job summary

Dorset Council seeks a Senior Youth Practitioner in the Wimborne area to provide care and support to children and young people, initially in a short break setting. You will work as part of a small team, on a rota, with additional management duties to help run the home safely and effectively.

You will support disabled children to achieve positive outcomes, build life skills, and promote community participation.

Qualifications

• Must hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Experience leading a team and supervising others.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as part of a 24hr service.
• Vehicle or suitable transport available for travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day care of children and young people in short break settings as part of a small staff team.
• Provide care and support, rota-based working, and contribute to future outreach in families' homes.
• Support safeguarding and build positive relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
• Lead a team, supervise colleagues, and ensure individually planned breaks for children.
