Job summary

Dorset Council UK is recruiting a Senior Youth Practitioner in the Wimborne area to care for children and young people in a short breaks setting. You will join a small staff team, with future plans for outreach support to families in their own homes, and hold additional management responsibilities within the home.

You will lead a team, supervise colleagues, and deliver individualized care plans while promoting inclusion, safety and well-being for disabled children and young people.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting young people with disabilities with day-to-day lives, activities and promoting community participation and social inclusion.
• Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with children, families, partner agencies and allocated social workers.
• Experience leading a team and undertaking supervision of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care of young people as part of a rota and senior responsibilities within the short breaks setting.
• Contribute to running of the home and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for disabled children.
• Develop individually planned breaks and apply a solution-focused approach to support.
