Job summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a Senior Young People Support Worker to support vulnerable 10‑17 year‑olds at risk. You will manage complex cases, supervise staff, and lead assessments and intervention plans to achieve safeguarding and positive outcomes.

The role requires strong safeguarding knowledge and experience with trauma‑informed, restorative approaches, working with families and partner agencies in a hybrid setting across Wiltshire.

Salary: £41,177 - £43,149 pro rata

Our families and children’s service is looking for a senior young people support worker. The Young People Service supports vulnerable young people at risk of offending, exploitation, or entering care, providing early intervention, safeguarding, and multi‑agency support to improve outcomes and reduce risk.

The Senior Young People Support Worker will support vulnerable young people aged 10-17 who are at risk. The role involves managing complex cases, supervising and developing support workers, leading assessments and intervention plans, working closely with families and partner agencies and ensuring effective safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people through targeted, evidence‑based support.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with vulnerable young people and families, particularly those at risk of offending, exploitation, or going missing. They will possess strong safeguarding knowledge, expertise in child and adolescent development, trauma‑informed and restorative practice, and a proven ability to engage hard‑to‑reach families, assess complex needs, and deliver effective interventions that improve outcomes for children and young people.
