Job summary

Aspion Search is seeking a Senior Operations Team Member to join our Huntingdon workshop. This hands-on role focuses on operating conventional machine shop equipment, interpreting engineering drawings and delivering quality parts to customer specifications.

You will work closely with the production team, support training, and identify opportunities to improve processes, safety and efficiency while maintaining high standards of accuracy and documentation.

Qualifications

• Engineering or machine shop experience and/or a relevant qualification.
• Experience using conventional workshop equipment.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Care and patience when handling fragile or delicate materials.
• Confidence using computer systems.
• A positive, proactive approach and strong teamwork skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn across the wider production environment.
• Knowledge of metals, polymers or ceramics would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate workshop equipment, including bandsaws, lathes, vertical mills and guillotines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and production sheets.
• Select the correct materials and manufacture items to the required specifications, keeping waste to a minimum.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements.
• Complete job documentation and update stock management systems accurately.
• Maintain a safe, tidy and organised workshop, following safety procedures.
• Support the training of new and existing team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and safety.
• Support the wider production team to ensure customer orders are completed on time.
