Job summary

Consult is seeking a Senior WordPress Technical Consultant to lead the technical approach for a large WordPress consolidation programme in the UK. You will shape architecture, design and delivery across multiple websites, building scalable themes and plugins.

This remote-first contract is centred in Leeds with travel ~1 day per week. The role focuses on secure, performant WordPress solutions, content migrations and close collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Enterprise WordPress experience with custom themes and plugins.
• Experience with website consolidation or migration projects.
• Knowledge of Gutenberg blocks and reusable publishing components.
• Strong PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS skills.
• Ability to work with clients and stakeholders in a consultative capacity.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery and design for a large WordPress consolidation programme.
• Assess existing sites, content structures, integrations and publishing workflows.
• Design scalable, secure and maintainable WordPress solutions.
• Build custom themes, plugins and reusable components.
• Plan and execute content and media migrations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical recommendations.
• Develop integrations with third-party systems and services.
• Support CI/CD, hosting, deployment and platform optimisation.
• Ensure security, performance and maintainability best practices.
