Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Wimborne, a global engineering and design manufacture leader, is seeking a Senior Wiring Technician to join our Manufacturing facility in Wimborne, UK. You will assemble high-precision instrumentation, wire and test complex assemblies, and contribute to continuous improvement within the Operations Department.

Responsibilities

• Wiring of complex assemblies using technical drawings, wiring/circuit diagrams and instructions.
• Terminal installation; soldering high-density multi-pin connections.
• Soldering surface mount devices.
• Mechanical assembly of control cabinets, racks, frames and metalwork.
• Manufacture of cable looms; PCB assembly and repair.
• Repairs and modifications including upgrades per procedures.
• Quality checks and verification on wired assemblies; ERP/data traceability.
• Maintain housekeeping and health & safety (ESD).
• Collaborate with Engineering to advise on designs and methods; lead skills transfer within production.
• Lead Health and Safety implementation and CI participation.
• Act as deputy Team Lead when needed and escalate issues.

Job description

Senior Wiring Technician

Our team is growing! We are looking for a Senior Wiring Technician to join our team. As the Wiring Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly of high precision instrumentation, undertaking all aspects of wiring and electrical assembly processes and providing specialist manufacturing skills related to this area. There are a wide range of specialist wiring assemblies and test activities undertaken within the Operations Department.

Your Challenge:

• Wiring of complex assemblies using technical drawings, wiring/circuit diagrams and working instructions
• Terminal installation, soldering high-density multi-pin connections
• Soldering surface mount devices
• Mechanical assembly of control cabinets, racks, frames and associated metalwork
• Manufacture of cable looms
• Printed circuit board assembly and repair
• Repairs and modifications including upgrades in accordance with documented procedures
• Comprehensive checks on wired assemblies, by providing verification/validation 'buddy checks' on function output
• Update whilst maintaining Data integrity in all paperwork and electronic systems including ERP and traceability
• Maintain good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness whilst complying with best health and safety practice including ESD precautions
• Work with Engineering Departments to advise and determine designs, methods, materials and equipment to develop new products
• Take a leading role in skills transfer within the production team
• Take a leading role in Health and Safety implementation and requirements reviews
• Lead on Continuous Improvement activities within the team, including implementation of 'Just Do It' tasks and involvement in larger CI projects
• Acts as a deputy if required on Team Lead duties and escalates issues effectively

What You Bring:

• Qualification or practical experience in electrical assembly
• Significant previous assembly experience within a workshop manufacturing environment
• Excellent soldering skills including complex high-density connectors and surface mount devices, qualifications to IPC-A-610/620 would be an advantage
• Meticulous assembling skills
• Able to read and understand electrical drawings including wiring diagrams and PCB schematics
• Strong time management and be able to work unsupervised to defined deadlines
• Good communicator and team player
• Innovative problem solver, a self-starter with a "Can do" hands-on attitude and attention to detail
• Willing to work flexible/additional hours to meet tight timescales and deadlines
• This role is based in the Manufacturing facility and will not be physically demanding although some lifting of equipment will be required
