Job Description for Senior Web Developer at University of the Arts London

We are seeking a Senior Web Developer to join the Digital & Technology team at UAL. This role focuses on delivering new digital functionalities and supporting web development across our digital channels, including the main university website, student portfolios, and showcase platforms, using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and related technologies.

Responsibilities:

1. Work with core content management systems and the wider development team to produce new functionalities and services across various digital products.
2. Design and build foundational systems to optimize and modernize our tech stack.
3. Participate actively in projects by collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements for new applications.
4. Work within an Agile environment and mentor team members to develop leadership skills.

About You - Experience:

• Extensive experience developing websites and web applications using PHP 8+, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX/JSON.
• Good understanding of CMSs and frameworks such as WordPress, Craft, and Laravel.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Experience with microservices, APIs (building and integration), and cloud services like AWS.
• Strong stakeholder management and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience supporting, mentoring, and collaborating within a development team.
