Job summary

Ofwat is seeking a Principal Water Supply Technical Specialist to join the Water Quality, Resilience and Security sub-team within the RAPID and Environmental Planning Directorate. The role concentrates on overseeing complex water supply projects, collecting data, and shaping strategic investment decisions.

You will work with regulators and water companies across Birmingham and London, applying technical leadership to ensure robust evidence and delivery on time and budget.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in water sector engineering, capital or environmental programmes and asset/operational management.
• Degree-level qualification in engineering, science, or similar technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Significant stakeholder engagement experience influencing decisions and delivering outcomes.
• Experience in policy development and implementing procedures.
• Highly numerate with experience in leading complex technical analysis and producing evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Direct analysis of Company Delivery Plans, PCDs and APR data for oversight of performance.
• Coordinate with water companies through large scheme processes to manage risks and deliver schemes on time and budget.
• Review cost-change information and ensure evidence-based decisions.
• Develop benchmarking models and govern data population.
• Contribute to next price review framework and advise on costing of water quality, resilience, and security options.
